Principal's Message

Dear Hutchinson Families,

On behalf of our teachers and staff, I welcome you to Hutchinson Middle School! I am excited and honored to serve as the principal of Hutchinson. Our mission is to cultivate a positive community of engaged critical thinkers who all have access to high quality instruction in a supportive learning environment. With a strong team of committed teachers, dedicated staff members, and supportive parents, our students have a great structure in place to become successful students and citizens.

Hutchinson Middle School’s STEM Magnet Program is based on three pillars: high quality curriculum, equity and access for all students, and community involvement. Using a combination of research-based curricula, students learn to think critically and creatively, collaborate with peers and mentors from the field, and use STEM-focused problem-solving strategies to address real-world problems.  We also embed computer science instruction in our science classes which provide opportunities for all our students to build confidence, skills, and content knowledge. Our consistent focus on academic success in STEM has resulted in high student achievement in math/science and earned us state/national recognitions.  As a result, Hutchinson’s STEM Magnet Program embodies the district motto “Every Student. Future Ready. Our Promise!”

Furthermore, students are offered a variety of elective courses and enrichment activities, including AVID, Spanish, Leadership/ASB, Yearbook, Fencing, Beginning and Advanced Band, Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Academic Pentathlon. Students can also participate in our athletic program providing opportunities to participate in football, volleyball, cross country, basketball, soccer, track & field, and cheerleading.

I encourage parents to become involved in our Parent/Teacher/Student Association (PTSA) and our School Site Council (SCC) -  volunteer at school activities, and take an active role in your child's education.  We value positive communication between the school and home, so please don't hesitate to contact us at (562) 210-2945 with any questions or concerns. With teamwork and dedication, I am confident that we will give our students the knowledge, skills, and tools to be successful as they prepare for college and career.

Go Hawks!

Sincerely,

Jenny Bae
